Of Windbags and Blowhards

So there's been a lot of hoopla lately from conservative pundits about how McCain isn't really a conservative. Laura Ingraham used her time on stage introducing Mitt Rommney's concession speech to tear McCain a new asshole, Rush "Bennys and Goofballs" Limbaugh has called him "uninspiring," Ann "Faggot" Coulter claimed he would be "bad for the country" and then went one step further and claimed that she'll vote for Hillary if McCain ends up the GOP nominee. One suspects that this is hyperbole, but at the same time there is probably no one who would benefit more from a Hillary Clinton Presidency than Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity, et all. That's 4-8 years of guaranteed job security. Not that any of these blowhards are in danger of loosing their audience, but certainly with a Democrat in the White House, and a Clinton at that, many more conservative would retreat to their traditional fortress of solitude; talk radio.

By this same token, one has to wonder if somewhere in the irritable bowls of this country there are white supremists who hope that Barack Obama gets elected because it may be the tipping point that pushes fence-sitting, casual racists into full blown, professional hate mongering. I suspect that some hate groups would view an Obama presidency the way the Army viewed 9/11: They wish like hell it hand't happened, but it did drive up the recruiting numbers so at least something good came out of it.
